BarCode Plugin

The barcode plugin translates the data-text in a field into a barcode; the barcode is then placed at a location which you specify. You may choose whether to show or to suppress the data-text in the originating field. It is included in EscapeE as standard.

The barcode configuration dialog is displayed when the Configure button on the 'Action' page of Fields dialog is clicked: see To attach a plugin to a field.

1.Select the type of barcode to be used from the list. Choose from:
oCode 128, also known as EAN128
oUSS-93, also known as CODE 93
oPostal Technology BPO four state code
oPOSTNET (US Post)
oUSPS Intelligent Mail 4-State barcode

Further options may be configurable, depending on the type of barcode chosen: see specific topics for more information.

2.Select the units of measurements used for Positioning. Choose from inches, centimeters or points (1/72 inch).
3.Choose a positioning reference point and direction on the page diagram.
4.Enter a horizontal offset distance and a vertical offset distance in the edit boxes; a zero in both boxes places the text origin at the chosen reference point.
5.Tick Delete original field box if the field text is not to be shown in the document.
6.Select a Rotation for the bar-code:
oNo rotation (default)
o1 right-angle counter-clockwise 90°
o2 right-angles 180° (upside-down)
o1 right-angle clockwise 270° (3 right-angles counter-clockwise)
7.Click OK.

A "page" diagram is displayed with a "field" area shown as a cyan block. Click on a the corner of the page or block or around the text origin of the block to set up the reference point and offset direction to be used:
