There is no need to re-engineer host applications if you want to use barcodes. The EscapeE barcode plug-in will work with any PCL/HPGL print file.

Sweep out an area of the page where an identification tag could appear. In this case "Invoice number:"
Now mark a field where the invoice number will appear. Its position will always be in the same position relative to the tag on every page.
Select the barcode technology you want to use....
...and offsets from the selected reference point.
The barcode is shown in red.
