With an RFF font file open:

Click Modify from the menu bar.

FONTEDIT shows the character glyphs positioned in a regular grid see Recode font. Initially, the window is displayed "maximized" – you may click Restore to sizeable window button to switch to a re-sizable window.

1.To change the scale at which the characters are displayed click View on the menu-bar then choose one of these options:
o100%
o50%
o33%
o25%
oCustom zoom: enter a scaling factor (as a percentage) then press Enter key or click Yes.
2.To overlay the bounding box and baseline to show the position of each character within its cell, e.g. Image of a character cell, tick Show cell.
3.Select character(s): see Rearrange character codes. (Selected characters are shown highlighted on a cyan background.)
4.To delete the selected character(s), click Delete.
To bring back deleted character(s), click Restore.
5.To modify selected character(s), click Edit... or
right-click to display the pop-up menu.
Select an Edit option: see below.
6.Click OK.

Batch command

Cut

Copy character(s) and delete them from the font. The first character in the selection is put on the clipboard as an image, so can be edited by a painting program or image modification program such as RTIMAGE iconRTIMAGE.

 

Copy

Copy character(s). The first character in the selection is also put on the clipboard.

 

Paste

Paste character or range of characters from the clipboard into the font, overwriting any existing character(s) in the selected range.

May also be used to paste a black and white image into a character's raster.

Note: You will be prompted to apply the old character width to the new character (Yes) or to use the width of the pasted image (No).

 

Delete

Delete the selected character(s).

DELETE or DEL

Select all

Select all characters present in the font.

 

Unselect all

Deselect all characters.

 

Move characters

Prompts for a number of pixels and then:

 

oUp

...moves character(s) up in the cell,

UP

oDown

...moves character(s) down in the cell,

DOWN

oLeft

...moves character(s) left in the cell,

LEFT

oRight

...moves character(s) right in the cell.

RIGHT

Scale characters

Prompts for:

 

oEnlarge

...an enlargement factor (<=10.0),

...a reduction factor (<=10.0).

Change character spacing

Prompts for a number of pixels and then:

 

oAdd space at left

...extends the character cell to the left,

ADDLEFT

oAdd space at right

...extends the character cell to the right,

ADDRIGHT

oAdd space at both sides

...extends the character cell at both sides,

SPACE

oSet width

...sets the escapement,

WIDTH

oCentre in specified width

...centers the black portion of the character,

CENTRE

oSet width and scale to fit

...forces the character to fit in the width, scaling down if necessary,

SCALETO

oSet space above character

...forces the specified amount of white space above the black area,

TOPSPACE

oSet space below character

...forces the black area to be specified amount above the baseline (can be negative).

BASE

Slant

Enter a number n to slant selected character(s) by 1 in n: the top of the character(s) will be tilted to the right and may extend out of the cell.

SLANT

Bolden

Make selected character(s) bolder.

BOLDEN or BOLD

Lighten

Make selected character(s) lighter.

LIGHTEN

Outline

Enter a number n (between 1 and 9) to draw selected character(s) as a hollow outline n dots thick.

OUTLINE

Rotate

Rotate n right-angles counterclockwise; black areas of characters may extend out of the cell.

ROTATE

Reflect

Reflect selected character(s) left-to-right.

REFLECT

Inverse black/white

Black parts of selected character(s) become white and white parts become black.

INVERSE

List character details

Displays the Console window listing the width, size and offsets of black area(s) of all selected character(s).

LIST

Enter a command, for example:
